Yesterday's show is now up on the Coffeetime Archive. Playlist to be posted here soon.
Also, here's another fun site I've found recently: The website for a pharmaceutical museum in Japan -- I don't speak Japanese, so I have no idea what the words/characters say, but you can click anywhere and come up with some awesome vintage images. For example, click the second link in the third box from the top on the left hand frame. In other words, just keep clicking blindly (those of you who don't speak Japanese, that is), and enjoy the visuals.

Hey, kids! Fundraising starts this Thursday, November 4. For Coffeetime, that'll be this Thurs, from 2 pm to 4 pm. I hope you can enjoy the fun and mess. If you want to pledge, I'll be offering all my pledgers a Coffeetime "Hits" CD again this year. Plus, all pledgers to the station will receive a neat enamel lapel pin in the shape of the round "screaming mic" logo.
More on this later.

playlist for last week's show coming soon. i'll also redesign the coffeetime archive so that it has the playlist for a show near the listening links.
in the meantime, i thought you'd enjoy these links! I found all of them from Papel Continuo:
Kiddie Rekord King --- so inspirational that i'm going to start playing some of my kiddie records on coffeetime more regularly
Science Songs --- neat mp3's here
Buvards {vintage "blotters," that is, blotting papers printed with advertisments} --- more of a graphic design link, but, heck, it's all "of a piece"

okeedokee, this week's show is now online. i also purchased enough server space to hold a few shows at a time, so last week's is also still there.
playlist to come soon!
playlist to come soon!
good morning. the show went well yesterday. it's peaceful in the station in the heart of a thursday afternoon, much more so than a tuesday evening, that's for sure. and that made it very conducive to playing my snips and snails and petticoats. thanks so much for all the phonecalls. i'm happy some of you can still listen; for those who can't, maybe the Coffeetime Archive will help.
i'll upload yesterday's show to the archive sometime this weekend. and maybe even a playlist. (eeek! i shouldn't make promises…)
one thing i forgot to mention is the new book on Jim Flora written by Irwin Chusid. i am proud that irwin asked me to be a part of the book; it includes a 1990 interview of mine with Jim, a great designer/illustrator/painter who created some of the best jazz album cover designs and who was a hip, smart, warm, and generous man. some album covers from my collection and some sketches that Jim gave me are also reproduced in the book. i'll write a bit more about Jim, the book, and the web gallery at some point in the near future. for now, i need another cup of coffee!

Trumpets, sound the clarion call! Coffeetime can now be heard online whenever you feel like it in the new Coffeetime Archive! Whoopee! Currently playing the most recent show, my Tuesday adieu of September 28, 2004. Let me know if you listened, liked, disliked, troubles, wishes, dreams, favorite TV shows, whatever you want to tell me!
Hey sleepyheads. Well, again, thanks for all the calls on my last Tuesday show. Goodbye Tuesday, hello Thursday? I'm still hoping to have my show be on Thursdays from 2 to 4p. But it may be on Wednesdays at that time. So, tune in both days if you can. You'll be happy either way, since the other show I'm do-si-do'ing with is the stellar American Primitive, which I know all Coffeetime listeners will love.

Hey, my dreamy friends -- looks like Coffeetime will be moving next week from Tuesday 4-6pm to Wednesdays 2-4pm.
The show has been on Tues 4-6p ever since its inception in Feb/Mar of 1992, so we almost made it to a baker's dozen years, you and I. No worries, though. We'll have a fresh adventure with our new time together. I hope you can still listen.
I will be asking the program board whether it would be possible to be moved to Thursdays from 2-4p; I think most of my listeners are also avid Jazztrain fans and would be happy if the shows were back-to-back. Plus, to be honest, a Thursdays show would be much easier to deal with in my income-producing worklife. And I'd be keen to be following Alex on the Lost & Found.
However, right now, American Primitive is slated for that slot and, if that stays that way, as a listener, I'd be pysched to listen to Alex, then Jay & PJ, and then Jon. And you and I can still have coffee on Wednesdays at 2. In other words, either way, all will be good.
Please add a comment if you have any; I look forward to hearing from everyone.
