Thank you

Thanks to everyone who has pledged so far in WMBR's 2008 fundraiser. Special thanks to everyone who has pledged so far for Coffeetime. If you haven't yet, you can still do so (and receive some of our nice thank you gifts) at wmbr.org. (I really like the eco-combo premium set of the green grocery tote plus eco-friendly USB flash drive for a pledge of $100. Several people took advantage of this during Backwoods yesterday.)

And thanks to the WMBR deejays who helped me during Coffeetime: Jesse Kaminksy, John Funke, Larry Azrin, Bruce Sylvester, Ben Shanks, and Keith Sawyer for phone duty, laughs, and encouragement and Joan Hathaway and Doug Gesler for smiles and sweetness post-show.

When it comes down to it, WMBR is a nice group of people, listeners and station members -- one big family together. And I can say this as a station member for 17 years and, before that, as a very dedicated listener. We've got a special thing going here.

Fundraising week continues up to Wednesday night. I'll be helping Julia with Africa Kabisa today, Charlie with Research & Development tomorrow, and Jesse with The Intercontinental on Wednesday. It's one of my favorite times of the year.

WMBR Fundraising begins this week…

Hi you dreamies,

As you may know already, WMBR's 2008 fundraising week begins this Thursday at 6 am (with the Pontoon Palace).

So I'll be fundraising this Friday on Coffeetime. New this year is a new capability on the WMBR.org fundraising pages to (almost) instantly alert on air deejays when a listener has made an online pledge.

This might be great for some of my listeners -- those who time shift and those who do listen from 2-4, but who cannot use the phone to call in their pledge. If you can't phone me while I'm on the air, but you can go to wmbr.org and you were planning on pledging (thank you!), then please do go online between 2 and 4 and do the online pledging then. I'll see it and be able to thank you on air in real time. (Note that the online pledge pages don't go "public" until Thursday.)

But, if you *can* phone in, please do call me. It adds to the party! If you can drop down to the station to make your pledge in person between 2 and 4, do that too -- that too will add to the party.

And, if you can listen, but have no access to phone or web, but still want to pledge, no worries. Your generosity will be welcome any time.

One last thought: heaven knows, this is a rough economic time. If you can't afford to pledge, do not worry about it. Your presence as a listener is still support indeed.

Thanks in advance to all!

Alex fills in; Mother Nature shuts down 'MBR

Hey sleepies,

Much thanks again to Alex McNeil of Lost & Found for filling in for me today. I was able to enjoy what he was spinning (yay), when, just after halfway point, the station had to go off the air. We're having transmitter problems, no doubt due to the huge thunderstorm yesterday and are still off the air as I type this. (The poor Backwoods junkies!)

I am posting the partial show anyway and will put up Alex's playslist as soon as he sends it to me.

Edited to add that approx 1 hour of Backwoods was streamed over the web (yay) until it got cut off just before 11 am (boo). And, I don't have Alex's playlist yet. I'll tug his shirtsleeve…
